06 Nov 2014 - Kinshasa, 6 November 2014 - The Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for the Great Lakes Region, Said Djinnit, attended the third meeting of the Ministers of Mines of the Members States of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR), who gathered in Kinshasa, DRC, to assess the progress made in the implementation of the ICGLR Mineral Certification Mechanism launched in 2010.

19 Oct 2014 - Bujumbura, 19 October 2014 - The UN Special Envoy for the Great Lakes region, Said Djinnit, visited Bujumbura on 17 October as part of his regional tour since his appointment last July. Mr. Djinnit met with President Pierre Nkurunziza as well as with key political figures, a cross section of Burundian women, and the UN Country Team.

23 Sep 2014 - New York, 23 September 2014 - The signatories of the Peace, Security and Cooperation Framework for the DRC and the region met on Monday (22 September 2014) under the chairmanship of the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and the Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mr. Erastus Mwencha, for the Fourth Meeting of the Regional Oversight Mechanism (ROM) to review progress on the implementation of the Framework.

29 Aug 2014 - Kinshasa, 29 August 2014 – The Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for the Great Lakes Region (SESG), Said Djinnit completes his first two-day visit in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, in a move to advance the objectives of a regional peace agreement signed in Addis Ababa in February last year. In Kinshasa, he met with a wide range of stakeholders including President Kabila, Government officials, the Diplomatic Corps, the United Nations family, and Civil Society.
