On 7 May 2018, Nairobi, Kenya - Special Envoy Djinnit convened the first OSESG-GL partners’ briefing of the year 2018 in Nairobi, Kenya.  In attendance were representatives from donor countries contributing to OSESG-GL Trust Fund, including, Ambassadors of Belgium, Norway and Switzerland in Kenya as well as representatives of the embassies of Norway and the United Kingdom and of the European Union Delegation based in Burundi. The meeting provided the participants with the opportunity to discuss peace and security developments in the region since the last OSESG-GL partners briefing in October 2017. The Special Envoy further briefed his interlocutors on his efforts and of his Office in addressing a number of issues, including on the neutralization of the negative forces, confidence building between the core countries as well as on electoral processes in the Great Lakes region. Consultations were further held in the afternoon to allow in-depth discussions between OSESG-GL political and thematic teams and the partners on initiatives financed by its Trust Fund and on the implementation of the Great Lakes Regional Strategic Framework.
