Burundi: The priorities for peacebuilding and development, as emphasized by Said Djinnit

New York, July 3, 2015 - While in New York in June the United Nations Special Envoy for the Great Lakes region, Said Djinnit, gave an interview to the UN Radio. The weekly magazine Escale, where he was speaking, was particularly focused on the forthcoming conference on Private Investment in the Great Lakes Region, to be held in Kinshasa, the Capital city of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) from 24 to 25 February 2016.

With a population of over 370 million, this sub-region has an increasingly educated, youthful, and urbanized population which represents a great source of labour and market. Mr. Djinnit, who will be among the many participants of this Conference, explained the importance of the event for the future of the sub Region.
