Bujumbura, 19 September 2020 – During a short visit to the Burundian capital Bujumbura, Special Envoy Huang Xia met with the country’s minister of National Defense and Veteran Affairs, Alain Tribert Mutabazi, to brief him on the UN Strategy for Peace Consolidation, Conflict Prevention and Conflict Resolution in the Great Lakes. The two officials also shared views on the security situation as well as the prospects for enhanced security cooperation between the countries of the region.
