On Saturday, May 3, 2025, UNSCOL posted the following on its X account: "Press freedom is critical. In its absence, democracy dies. Human rights wither. Journalists must be able to work without concern for their safety or lives. This is true in Lebanon, as well as in every country across the globe. We must all recommit, through our laws, policies and actions, to the protection of press freedom and those who work to advance it.
